Florida is the most exciting holiday experience in the world, with over 50 million visitors a year; fortunately not all land in Orlando!

Orlando is a vast conglomeration of adventure rides, thrills, fun and fantasy, the like of which is repeated nowhere else in the world - and we are not just talking about Disney World.  Don't forget that you can also relax in the sun, spend warm balmy days playing golf, swim with the dolphins or visit one of the stunning beaches.  There's also the amazing John F Kennedy Space centre just 50 minutes away - in fact Orlando has just about everything you could need for a versatile family holiday.

For those of you who have not been to Orlando before, here's a quick rundown of what's available - but we can't hope to list everything on this website:

There are many major theme parks, four of which reside in the Walt Disney World Resort:

other great days and evenings out:

Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
River Country Water Park

Universal Studios is based
on films which Universal has
released and now features
top attraction rides such as:

Men in Black, Jaws, Back to the Future,
ET, Kongfrontation and
Terminator 2 3D

The whole park is zoned
1) New York
2) San Francisco/Amity

housing the big rides
Earthquake and Jaws,
3) Expo Centre showing Back to
the Future and Men in Black,
4) Woody Woodpeckers KidZone
(absolutely brilliant for children and well recommended -
Tip - take a towel and fresh set

of clothes for your little ones -
they will get wet!) and
5) Hollywood

Islands of Adventure
In 1999 Universal's creative
consultant Steven Spielberg
officially opened a $1.5bn
theme park called Islands of Adventure;although not really islands, there are six themed areas around the central lagoon (Port of Entry, Marvel Super-Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, The Lost Continent and Seuss Landing)
The Islands of Adventure is
billed as the most thrilling
and complete theme park
on offer.  It has a complete
range of attractions; from
pure family entertainment
to the full adrenalin rushes of
thriller rides

Seaworld is one of the most
popular parks with visitors
for its general lack of
large queues along with
its peaceful environmental
aspects

At Seaworld you can see Shamu
the killer whale, and all
creatures of the deep.
It features a bright refreshing
atmosphere and pleasingly
serious ecological
approach, plus thrill seeking
rides including Journey to Atlantis
and Kraken

Busch Gardens
houses the Anheuser-Busch
brewery (yes there is free beer!) as
well as a stunning theme
park based on the Serengeti.
An absolute must for all visitors and
by far our favourite of them all.

As the overall theme is Africa the park is sub divided into areas like the Congo,Morocco and Nairobi.
Busch houses some of the worlds most thrill seeking rides and boasts the title of No.3 in the world's top theme parks

Busch is a 60 minute journey
from our villa but is well worth
the trip.  Also alongside Busch
is the water park Adventure Island
which is absolutely fantastic -
take your sun cream, you'll need it

If you like water, you'll
love Adventure Island - for the kid in you!

John F Kennedy
Space Centre

is about a 55 minute car ride
away.  More than $120million has
been spent in the last few
years revamping the Space
Centre's Visitors Complex.
It is now an unmissable
attraction for its depiction
of space exploration,
past, present and future

Why not arrange your visit around
the next Shuttle Launch!

Of course Theme Parks in Orlando are absolutely bountiful.   Here a just a few of the other parks we would like to mention, but just don't have the space to do them justice!  However, we do have plenty of brochures at the villa for you to read and enjoy:

Discovery Cove where you can swim with the Dolphins (pre-booking essential - and very expensive)
    Cypress Gardens
(200 acres of botanical gardens)
    Splendid China
(based on China!)
    Gatorland
(where the real Florida comes up to bite you!)
Plus dozens and dozens of others

Oh don't forget there's the shopping - now that list is endless!  Orlando is the 'shop till you drop' capital of Florida and has some absolutely brilliant shopping centres including designer factory outlets where you can buy designer goods at low low prices!

We recommend for any visitor to Orlando that they buy the book 'a brits guide to Orlando and Walt Disney World' which comes out every year, so you can be assured that the information is bang up-to-date.  It is written by Simon Veness and published by Foulsham.   The book can be found in all good bookshops e.g. Waterstones, WHSmiths and of course at www.amazon.co.uk - currently priced at £11.99
